Security antivandal gates, galway city

Last week we fitted these security/anti vandal gates for a shop in Galway city centre. The owner had been having problems with people 'loitering' late at night in front of his doors often setting off the burgular alarm and recently a large pane of glass was broken.
Also in this case the opening was not suitable for a roller or antivandal shutter so gates were the only option.

The gates were designed to be as unobtrusive as possible and also allow the window display to be seen. We glazed the gates with polycarbonate sheeting, its far stronger than glass and will allow some abuse and durability.

Due to the constraints of where these gates were going, they have some unique features, both gates also have spring loaded castors to relive weight on the pillars and the drop bolts have fold down handles so that they are not a hazard to customers entering the shop.

Structural steel, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Last week, we installed structural steelwork to a house in Ballsbridge that was being made over. The steelwork was added to support the 1st floor walls and floor joists so that a an open plan area could be created on the ground floor. In all there were 4 beams that bolted together in kit form. A small section had to be fitted and welding in on site, nice bit of overhead welding...with some sizzling of hair!

Bike shed doors, Dundrum, Dublin.

These doors are were fitted to a small garden shed for bikes in Dundrum, Dublin. As with our other doors, they are steel framed with recycled plastic boards. These were finished with a mortice lock for security.

Donkey or pony stable doors, recycled plastic

Not always enough time to keep this site update so here is a job we did a month or so ago. Its a split stable door (half door on top). This one is designed for use with ponies or donkeys so the bottom half is slightly lower than normal.

Inside the door is a 'V' to stop the animal from jumping the door to freedom!

Up and over gate

Today we fitted some dividing gates for a farmer in Cullen, Co Tipperary. These are up and over gates, basically our standard heavy duty dividing gate, hinged at the top with an additional frame with counter weight. The picture on the right shows the pair of gates on in the up position, the other in the down position.

The counter weight was tricky to perfect but in this case it balances well, with the gate in equilibrim in both up and down postions.

The gates are based on our standard design, heavy duty with closing bolts on each side.

In addition the gates can be fixed in the upright position in order to allow maximum flexibility for how the pen can be used.

This gates are particularly suited to diary setups where pens require to be emptied or filled with minimum of hassle. In addition the have the added advantage that they do not block cublices when in the open position.
